Hiking Weekend

My boyfriend and I are coming along with his friends on a hiking trip this weekend. I cannot wait to go because this is actually the first time he had invited me to come with them ever, and I am looking forward to being able to establish good rapport with his friends. After all, if we are to take this seriously I may have to impress his friends and make sure that they like me for him.

In preparation for the weekend my brother lent me his Garmin GPSMAP which he always uses whenever he goes climbing with his friends. I knew I would need to make sure that I have all the essentials I have with me. I also got a few pointers about these sorts of activities to make sure I don’t get lost in the loop later on. His friends were equally impressed that I love going on outdoor trips and were surprised I know a thing or two about these sorts of activities.

Backpacking Trips

Going on backpacking trips is something my friends and I would always plan out whenever we have the free time. This is one of the things I look forward to specifically when I would usually be stuck at work and doing things which are routinary in nature. These are the chances when I can get away from the usual routine and be able to take on an adventure.

Whenever we get out of the city I would always bring my Garmin GPSMAP 60CSX with me. When we have set up camp, I would usually walk around on my own and discover things by myself. I also find refreshing to be able to contemplate while I am out in the middle of nowhere. My GPS helps me to find my way back without any worries, so I can rejoin the rest of the group when I am done exploring.

New Gadget

For this Christmas, my friends have all pitched in to get me a Garmin GPS. They knew how much I enjoy climbing mountains and going trekking, so it was the perfect gift to get me. My old GPS finally broke down after years of use, so I needed a new one should I take a trip in the future. I have been holding off my trip for months now since I haven’t had the chance to buy myself a new GPS.

My friends probably knew how much I wanted to get back to my much enjoyed activity and gave me this gift. I cannot wait to start planning and be able to get back in good physical shape after binging over the holidays. Climbing and trekking are a few of my favorite activities not only to keep me in shape, but also to allow me in discovering wonderful sceneries brought by Mother Nature herself.

Best Reception

GPS stands for the Global Positioning System which refers to a system of satellites and receivers that allow people and devices to pinpoint their precise location on Earth. Devices that are equipped with GPS equipment receive transmissions from at least a few of the satellites and are able to discern very precise positioning data. The Garmin eTrex Legend HCx features a high-sensitivity receiver that will hold a GPS signal even in the toughest environments.

This handheld navigator has a bright color screen, microSD card slot and automatic routing to guide you wherever your adventure takes you. The high-sensitivity WAAS-enabled GPS receiver locates your position quickly and precisely, and maintains its GPS location even in heavy cover and deep canyons. The Legend HCx is designed to be waterproof so it can withstand the elements or an accidental dunk in the water. It also offers a fast USB computer connection so you can easily transfer waypoints and other data to your computer.

In today’s modern world, plenty of drivers rely heavily upon global positioning system devices when traveling or driving. Most GPS units are designed to be pocket-sized navigators that are easily installed on windshields or held comfortably in the hand. A popular brand of GPS device is the Garmin Nuvi, which is a portable, handheld GPS navigator that is available in several different models, depending on your budget and navigation needs. The main models of the Garmin Nuvi series include the 205, 500, 705, 805, 1200 and 1300 series.

The Garmin Nuvi 205 series models are the simplest and most cost-efficient types of GPS navigators available in the market today. The majority of the models in this series include pre-loaded street maps for a specific preferred region, from the continental United States to North American and European areas. The Garmin Nuvi 500 series also provides pre-loaded street maps for the continental U.S. as well as topographical maps that show terrain changes. This model is waterproof, making it a favorite among boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts.

Running for a Cause

Most of my friends are now getting into running for a cause. At first, it seemed to me like another superficial means of trying to increase awareness and support for these causes. I found myself disliking the idea of using such profound causes in dubious means. Later on, I changed my mind. They are able to get support and help these causes while getting a workout! That’s three in one and that is not bad! You get benefits for yourself because you become healthier and stronger. Your cause is publicized and gets support from registration fees and other means. The funds sent and received are used for further advancement of the cause.

Running for a cause entails discipline and training that is why many of my friends have recently purchased the the Garmin Forerunner. It is a Sports Watch range made by Garmin. Most models use the Global Positioning System (GPS), and are targeted at road runners and triathletes. The GPS models are designed as an accurate method of measuring distance, speed, heart rate (optional), time, altitude, and pace, all of which can be important to athletes in training for races. Either for creating logs, or for navigating new workouts. I’m serously thinking of joining them next time, if not for the health benefits maybe just so I have an excuse to get the Garmin Forerunner.

GPS has a host of applications. You can use it on land, at sea or in the air. Of course, there are exceptions such as inside some buildings or in subterranean locations. GPS is used by ordinary citizens as a driving tool and for recreation. Industrial contractors such as surveyors find applications for it in their projects.

Because of these varying applications, users of GPS need to determine the specific models that will fit their needs. They will not go wrong with Garmin GPS. There are Garmin products that will fill every need. Whether you are on the road, on the go, on the trail, into sports, on the water or in the air there will be a Garmin product that will make your activity more convenient. Garmin provides extras that will always keep your GPS units updated.
