A Chartplotter is a device that is used in marine navigation that integrates global positioning system data with an electronic navigational chart. The Garmin BlueChart g2 marine maps feature crisp labeling and an overall smoother presentation on your chartplotter display. The chartplotter displays the electronic navigational chart along with the position, heading, and speed of the ship, and may also display additional information from radar, automatic information systems, or other sensors.

In addition to the basic charts, tidal stations, currents, depth contours, IALA symbols and included fishing charts, the Garmin BlueChart g2 offers highly improved transitioning between zoom levels and more seamless continuity across chart boundaries. The BlueChart g2 also adds Safety Shading which will allow the user to enable contour shading for all depth contours that are shallower than the user-defined safe depth. The fishing charts are also designed to emphasize bathymetric contours with less visual clutter on the display.

The letters GPS stands for Global Positioning System which refers to a system of satellites and receivers that allow people and devices to pinpoint their exact location on the Earth. Devices that are equipped with GPS equipment receive transmissions from at least a few of the satellites which enable it to discern very precise positioning data. There are different types of GPS accessories that are designed for different kinds of GPS devices.

Some GPS accessories may include the portable friction mount which is designed to keep your GPS device in its proper place. It will keep your GPS device in plain sight when you need it and out of the way when you don’t. You can place this mount on any stable surface and adjust your GPS device to your liking. The friction mount weighs just enough to keep your GPS device stay put on the dash, even when sudden maneuvers are necessary.

Renting a Car

My family and I needed to go to San Francisco from San Diego. We decided to do some sight-seeing and rented a car. For a few extra dollars, they would install a GPS. It was not like our Garmin Dakota 10 but it did pretty well. We got a good deal on the car because we were going to rent it for a week and would even drop it off at the same place.

There are really some pretty good deals with car rentals. This is our first time to rent that’s why I was surprised with the good prices. I thought it would be prohibitive, but then thinking about it if it’s prohibitive then nobody would rent so it does make sense. I wonder why I never thought of that before. Renting a car while sight-seeing is a good way to see places.

The Ocean

Monday, November 29, 2010

There are five major oceans in the world.

Put simply, the Earth’s surface is approximately covered by 70.9% of oceans. That is a lot of water. This is probably the reason why many have been intrigued with the mystery of what lurks underwater. Boats, submarines, ocean liners, wavers, rafts, canoes and many more have been invented and manufactured to resolve the mystery. These people are wise. But there are more brilliant individuals than them; the ones who manufactured marine GPS like Garmin Marine GPS. So that these people won’t get lost while they try to resolve the mysteries that the ocean holds.

  • Atlantic Ocean (approx. covers one-fifth of the Earth’s surface)
  • Pacific Ocean (approx. covers 35%)
  • Indian Ocean (approx. covers 20%)
  • Arctic Ocean
  • Southern Ocean (approx. 20,327,000sq km.)
