Running for a Cause

Most of my friends are now getting into running for a cause. At first, it seemed to me like another superficial means of trying to increase awareness and support for these causes. I found myself disliking the idea of using such profound causes in dubious means. Later on, I changed my mind. They are able to get support and help these causes while getting a workout! That’s three in one and that is not bad! You get benefits for yourself because you become healthier and stronger. Your cause is publicized and gets support from registration fees and other means. The funds sent and received are used for further advancement of the cause.

Running for a cause entails discipline and training that is why many of my friends have recently purchased the the Garmin Forerunner. It is a Sports Watch range made by Garmin. Most models use the Global Positioning System (GPS), and are targeted at road runners and triathletes. The GPS models are designed as an accurate method of measuring distance, speed, heart rate (optional), time, altitude, and pace, all of which can be important to athletes in training for races. Either for creating logs, or for navigating new workouts. I’m serously thinking of joining them next time, if not for the health benefits maybe just so I have an excuse to get the Garmin Forerunner.
